Empowering Resourceful Communities: Itron’s 2024 Corporate Social Responsibility Impact
As we reflect on 2024, Itron’s commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and positive community impact stands out as a meaningful part of our year. I’m proud of the difference we made and the many ways our employees came together to support each other and their communities.
CSR programs are evolving to address the growing demands for sustainability, social equity and ethical business practices. Here are a few key trends shaping the future of CSR:
- Companies are shifting towards community-centric CSR efforts, addressing local needs and building stronger relationships with the communities they serve. This approach not only benefits the community but also enhances a company's reputation and brand loyalty.
- Engaging employees in CSR activities is becoming a greater priority. Programs that encourage volunteerism, employee giving, mentorship, education and wellness initiatives help boost morale and create a more connected company culture and motivated workforce.
- The use of technology and digital innovation in CSR is on the rise. Companies are adopting digital tools and leveraging AI to facilitate, engage, track and report their CSR impact.
At Itron, our company’s purpose of resourcefulness is strong and steady, and our people are the driving force behind making that purpose a reality. In 2024, Itron employees dedicated over 700 volunteer hours and supported more than 400 organizations through charitable giving, corporate matching and volunteer efforts. Across the globe, Itron teams took meaningful action—from environmental initiatives like beach cleanups in Cork and tree plantings for Earth Day to community support efforts, including health check-ups in Indonesia, classroom construction in India and gender-based violence awareness in Italy. Our Mâcon Plante site donated hand sanitizer for community health and sanitation and the Itron Employee Emergency Foundation provided nearly 200 grants to colleagues in need. At Itron Inspire, our partnership with Water.org helped bring clean water to 5,000 people. We closed the year with our Season of Giving, engaging sites worldwide in volunteering and giving activities to support local organizations.
In addition to our corporate and employee giving programs, Itron continues to invest in signature and mission-aligned education programs that aim to improve energy-water literacy, promote conservation and inspire future generations toward career paths and purpose in our industry.
